Lingen in Emsland is not exactly what is known as a tourist sensation. The place is quite contourless, and people wander the streets as if they had no destination. The only really pleasant place there is the historic cemetery, but you will get nasty looks from future residents if you set up your tripod. These people wonder what is worth photographing there.
I myself like such places, where one usually does not go. I like cities like Zeitz, Zerbst, Stendhal or Lingen, as any monkey can go to Berlin and does. I always find something in such places that attracts me. I've visited Lingen several times, accompanied by my Rolleiflex, my Leica M6, my Nikon F, and now with the Holga 135 TIM, one of those strange creatures that captures two almost identical images side by side on a film window. They're only almost identical, and you can find out the differences by looking closely.
All of the aforementioned cameras each have their own visual language, from which Lingen can only benefit aesthetically. There is practically nothing of the town itself in these pictures. But you can believe: Lingen is 100 percent in them.
This catalog verses an analog presentation of the images shown here at a North Frisian farm on October 12, 2021. The images are otherwise unpublished. Please also visit us on the web at www.galerie-fuer-kulturkommunikation.com.
